Are You Ignoring Your Bodies Warning Signs?
Are You Ignoring Your Bodies Warning Signs?
As I have been feeling really unwell this week it got me thinking! Am I ignoring my bodies warning signs telling me to slow down?
Do you take time out to look after yourself when your body is telling you to rest a little and take your foot off the gas?
I never used to take things easy when suffering with aches and pains, a cold or other ailments as I was always so busy and felt that I needed to get things done.
Ignoring my bodies warning signs, I would soldier on regardless and very often make myself feel even worse and slow down my recovery.
Is this something you do yourself?
Is this the right thing to do?
No, it most certainly isn’t as you can feel even worse, your productivity can suffer massively and even the simplest of tasks seem tough and challenging.
Fatigue and exhaustion can set in quickly and your recovery both physically and mentally seems to take ages.
So, this week just for a change, I’ve listened to what my body is telling me it needs. I have done bare minimum work wise. Completely lifted my foot off the accelerator. And taken the time to reflect, relax and rested.
Why am I telling you this?
It’s the same when it comes to those niggly aches and pains.
We tend to ignore them and convince ourselves that they will go away in time on their own.
Sometimes we even think it’s something we’ve got to put up with, because we’re getting older.
This is complete rubbish!
- We don’t have to accept living with daily aches and pains.
- We don’t have to rely on painkillers when it gets bad.
- Those niggly aches and pains won’t just go away by themselves. They are our bodies warning signs to do something about it before things get worse.
Please don’t wait for your body to scream out in pain before you listen to it.
If you’re currently struggling with back pain, arthritis or any other aches and pains, please don’t continue to ignore your bodies warning signs.
There is always something you can do that will help.
Our Pilates classes can help you reduce your aches and pains (in some cases completely get rid of them). They will help you improve your posture, increase your core strength, improve your mobility and flexibility. And overall help you move and feel much better both physically and mentally.
How Pilates Can Help
Pilates is a fantastic way to reconnect the mind with the body. The practice of Pilates helps us to be more body aware which results in us making subtle changes in our lifestyle without even thinking about it. We become more aware of our posture and the way we sit and stand as well as the way we perform other daily tasks.
Pilates also gives us that much needed ‘me time’ where we focus purely on our bodies, our breathe and the way we move, forgetting about the numerous other things that occupy our minds.
Because of this we not only get physical benefits from the exercises we perform but we also get mental benefits too.
Our members are always saying how the time flies in class and they always feel so much better and calmer afterwards.
Pilates as helped lots of people like yourself, that had aches and pains, were struggling with medical conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, that had injuries, were recovering from surgery and much more.
